The Necron Fleet

The Necron Fleet
The Necron Fleet consists of the Necropolis, 1 Cairn Class Tombship, 3 Scythe Class Harvest Ships, 1 Vulture Class Cruiser, 1 Shroud Class Light Cruiser, 10 Jackal Class Raiders, 4 Dirge Class Raiders, and 12 Khopesh Class Ramships.

Below are the three ships that I invented/scratchbuilt myself:

A quick correction - there are 6 Jackals, not 5. Other than that, yup - it is a truly awesome sight on the table. Many many thanks to DW for designing / building the custom ships. I really do think they add a lot more character to what is usually considered a pretty bland fleet.

Actually, we're both wrong. It's 10 Jackals. :)

5, 6, 10, Whatever number you decide on... That is one nice looking fleet. Thanks again for the rules link... busy refreshing my memory with them now at work :)

Whoops, yeah. For some reason my brain registered the Dirges out front as just more Kopeshes, and I forgot that last blister of 4 ships added just before the big battle.

Hope you get into BFG, WildHermit - it's actually a pretty fun side game, as as we like to do, you can implement elements of BFG battle outcomes into your 40K games with very little effort.

That's one special fleet - nay, unstoppable? I realise up until this point it's supported the Fluff of the indomitable Necrons to continue unabated with their 'hidden' Brazen claw (Question: How do you HIDE a brazen claw, they're a little ... err brazen?)

However it would be good to see a battle where the necrons do actually lose a fight - they're coming across very Borg at the moment.

Thats a beautiful fleet mate. Not a word I would normally associate with Necrons, but your conversions warrant it!

I would love to see more BFG battle reports on here - I really enjoyed the last one.

Suneokun,

One of the things we tried to emulate was having the Necrons encounter Imperial fleet ships and officers who were A) inexperienced, and B) unfamiliar with Necron ship capabilities.

To facilitate this, not only did the IN ships all start out with minimum Leadership scores (meaning it was very difficult to get special orders), but Darkwing played them "dumb" - he purposely did things he knew weren't smart vs. Necrons, but since his captains wouldn't know better...

As for the Eldar battle, well, that was a bit of a slug-fest. Keep in mind that the sole goal of the Eldar in that battle was to take down the Necropolic - if it had just been a straight-up fight, it would have probably come out much differently, but the Eldar spent themselves dearly to take out my super-ship.

There is at least one more major engagement left, so stay tuned...

I have no idea what is going on with BFG, but that Necropolis makes me want to sign up for the Navy... or rather run away from it if it involves me getting anywhere close to that monster. But yeah, awesome scratch builds and paint jobs!

what was the "recipe" for building it?

did you stat it up like a Planet Killer ?
